hey, what's wrong with asking?
I'm simply asking, what was the first emulator of a game system that ever came out?

well a emulator probably was written way before a console video game emulator came out, but i would say its a nes, i remember when 386's/486's struggled to run nes games. I think of that as the beginning of the "scene"

well the first emulators would probably been something as simple as basic calculators that have internal ROM-like systems. But I would agree that the "scene" probably started with NES, but I have no evidance for any of my wild/crazy ideas

if i remember correctly, i saw a tv special on bill gates and how he started and it said that he and the other guy(forget his name) actually made an emulator of a computer that ran on their computer so they did not have to buy the other computer. it wasnt too complicated, just a little cpu difference and a different way to access the ram (i think). but, as for released emulators, new would be a good start, but i might even venture to guess that a gameboy one or an older computer system was emulated first. just because the gameboy is monochrome and would be easier than nes

i remembered Rice or schibo said that they named 1964 after the year that the first emulator came out. dont ask me what system emulating what system, i forgot the details of that explaination. but i would imagine a program allowing a mainframe computer to emulate another type.
hopefully Rice or schibo would come along and give u a fuller answer.
