I have some questions i wanna ask:
1.What are pixel shaders and what happens when a graphics card doesn't support them?
2.What pixel shaders does the nvidia 5200 support?
3.I have intel extreme grapics for mobile 2 on my laptop and n64 emulation works perfectly, will GC emulation work the same(not as in frame rate).
4.I know
Google is ur friend, the search button is ur friend but it's way better when a collectivity answers ur questions.

1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pixel_shader
2. 2.0_a
3. No. Intel Extreme is a DX6 part, so has no support for any shaders.

thx a lot:D
But what about the ATI mobility radeon 9000IGP?(on my nx9100 laptop)
And wow 2.0_a for nvidia 5200? But it's so freaking old... It was the first gfx card to ever have a incorporated cooler.
And what will the image be like in Dolphin if i don't have pixel shaders? I read a FAQ to which u are registered where there was a beta tester with the intel card.

I think you can find a relevant picture of ZeldaWW in the Dolphin forum. At least it shows how the game would look if the pixel shader support is corrupt/missing.

PS1.4

It is not that old, really, Early 2003 - when the FX 5600 and FX 5800 were released - long after the ATi 9500/9700 which already supported PS2.0.
Cards have had coolers for many years before the FX series. The original GeForce had a fan.

A lot of the games will show as black and white, and some other such glitches.

It's called upgrading, ever heard of it? ;)
Blacklord

what about upgrading? I have the latest drivers on all my hardware.

Upgrading, as in buying better hardware, not just updating the drivers of the existing hardware.

Yeah but Clem said that the FX 5200 came out after radeon 9800 so it's still really good.

An FX 5200 and the words "really good" shouldn't ever be in the same sentence together. It has the features but is horribly crippled so that if it ever tried to use them except for simple things it would slow to a crawl.

As a previous owner of the 5200FX, I can back this statement up.:P It definitely has all the pixel shaders and such, but can't permorm for shit with them.:P

An FX5200 is basically a GeForce2 with DX9. Its release date has nothing to do with its performance. Just because the X300 came out after the X800, doesn't mean its faster.

oh thats true. But i like my 5200:P I think its the best gfx card in the world:D.

Then you obviously have low performance needs.:P

hahaha.... sigh... this gave me a good laugh. :D
a 5200 is even a downgrade for me. :P

I don't have low performance needs i acctualy have high perf. needs. But i am a master of the 5200. I can make it work at full perf. without any trouble(exept when it starts drawing all the cpu power and i have to restart the explorer).

Even the full power of the FX 5200 is no power.
I had two of them, the 64 bit/128meg and the 128bit/256meg versions and i am happy to say that now i´m on a radeon 9600 XT, FX 5200 is entry level, not designed to high performance in gaming, being the FX series one of the worst series of GeF, the FX 5200 is really bad business.

Fine what ever u say couse majority rules but i like it:P.
WhiteX
January 30th, 2006, 19:54
it is not a matter of majority, you may like it all you want, but it is a fact that it is a weak board, even though i finished Doom 3 with one.

Isn't the GeForce4 MX the weakest :P:P;)

It depends on which generation you refer to, once upon a time 3dfx was king of the hill, and nowadays few people even know what they were. The GeForce MXs were bad cards no doubt, but there are certainly worse cards. Also, if it wasn't for nVidia's new naming scheme, the FX5200 and GeForce 6200 would've been MX cards.
Clements

Naw, all MX's are really rebranded GeForce 2 cards, and GeForce FX/6 series use a totally updated architecture. It is only the performance which they have in common (apart from 6200 - it has good performance if 128 -bit)
