View Full Version : Should IGN just give up and die now?

Just remember this much loved, highly intelligent and above all honestly-not-biased-towards-PS2-no-really IGN phrase; "Luigi's Mansion has N64 like textures".
Or one of my personal favourites for the IGN(apster)Insider campaign. "Enhanced message board features like icons and the ability to post polls!"
Hmm... well, better hope Martin doesn't get any ideas from that judging by the average icon/poll-per-page count here ;)

Well, they no longer charge money for reviews afaik.
I prefer their reviews over any other reviews by any other site, they have pretty much the same taste in games like I have.

Interesting, since almost none of them people I've met actually like them, and still, they have like 30,000 posts at their message boards every day, and millions of visitors daily. :D
And you get free icons and the ability to post polls at EmuTalk as well. For free. :emutalk1:

I'd certainly be interested to see those statistics altered now that IGN(apster)Insider is running their boards... okay, time for another favourite quote from their pages of Things You Now Have To Pay For...
"Unlimited media downloads!"
Heehee...
Then there was the "Insider exclusive" Resident Evil NGC movies... er, which could be found for free on Capcoms own site...
Ah well, IGN still keeps us entertained in this way

God forbid anyone should actually CHARGE for the services they provide. I am paying for Insider and I think it's worth it. It's only $40 (aus) for a year. I have paid more for magazine subscribtions. I seriously can't understand what the big deal is.

Well, as long as I have been around IGN has always been top notch and when they were not generatign profit anymore they had to come up with something to keep them in buisness.... They may not have chosen the best way but I would definetely pay for Insider... Of course they have to reduce the quality on the tidbits of information they give a way for free, otherwise Insider would not be as attractive...

ok, fine if u find the insider satisfying. but those fullpage adverts that appear on random occasions when u go into different sections, or even enter the site. its ridiculous. ign used to be my faviourite site.

I understand why ign has to go to such measures...
I mean, would you do that if you were Fran Casa-whatsis and the other webmaster? consider the factors they have had to consider, such as monetary support for IGN!
in truth, I wish IGN made all its resource free. it's better than gamespot and more comprehensive. I get exasperated when I see a review on a latest game and I want to see how they rated it, but its insiders only for a while. but they give enough free resource to keep me satisfied.and that poll up there is, in my opinion...
bullshit. ;) no offence, I really find it dumb. but it's your opinion.
i'm not voting.
