How do I get the best performance out of 1964 with a lame grahpic card?

Sadly, all I have is an S3 Pro-savage card to run games. I'm not a big PC game fan simply because I can't afford the graphic cards. The emulators are working decently enough for me to enjoy some rare N64 imports, but I was wondering if someone with more knowledge can explain and help me set up 1964 to best suit my computer set up. Let me list my stats.

1.2Ghz Athlon
120 G HD
440MB of SyncDRAM
8 MB Allocated as Video RAM
S3 Pro-Savage graphic card

I have to run the games on Open GL because Directx will crash my comouter like crazy. The help files don't really explain what exactly is Frame Buffer, or Normal Combiners, and things like that. I don't even know what they do.

Oh btw, I'm using either Rice Video for my graphic plugin.

You can't afford a videocard? Honestly though, a card that would work well for that computer you can get for under $40. It doesn't have to be a $300 card to run 1964. A simple card from Newegg would work, such as http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814127181. That card alone would be leaps and bounds better than the onboard one you're using. If your motherboard doesn't have a AGP slot, I'm pretty sure you can get a equivelant PCI version as well.

Very true. My computer doesn't have an AGP slot, and it's also a Pentium III @ 1GHz, 386 RAM with a PCI 128MB GeForce FX 5500. Only cost me around $130. I can run N64 roms at full speed.

Just the opposite is true. Hardware has passed software for the time being... especially older stuff like N64 emulation.

Some stuff, such as the high res textures for the Zelda games etc. etc. do require a fast machine (according to my tests), but my computer from several years ago (700mrz Athlon 512mb ram GeForce2GTS 64mb) ran games at full speed. Your computer with a 64-128mb card would be able to play games just fine.

$51 total PCI card. It'd work just fine.

Ah well, that's what happens when I don't keep up with the PC world. Truth be told, I do own a GeForce2 MX (something) but that computer is currently unrepairs and I don't feel like sticking that card into this computer cause it also has hardware problems after getting zapped by lightning.
