Hello,
I try to use ePSXe 1.6
with FFVII
with these config

Card vendor: ATI Technologies Inc.
GFX card: RADEON 9800 Pro x86/SSE2

Resolution/Color:
- 1024x768 Fullscreen - NO desktop changing [32 Bit]
- Keep psx aspect ratio: off

Textures:
- R8G8B8A8
- Filtering: 6
- Hi-Res textures: 2
- VRam size: 128 MBytes

Framerate:
- FPS limitation: on
- Frame skipping: off
- FPS limit: 50.0

Compatibility:
- Offscreen drawing: 3
- Framebuffer texture: 3
- Framebuffer access: 3
- Alpha multipass: on
- Mask bit: on
- Advanced blending: on

Misc:
- Scanlines: off
- Line mode: off
- Unfiltered FB: off
- 15 bit FB: off
- Dithering: on
- Screen smoothing: on
- Screen cushion: off
- Game fixes: on [00000001]
and I get these problems:

- Sometimes I see red lines on the backgrounds
- I can't see the battle vortex
- the Victory screen laggish(I heard it cannot be solved)
I see some short slowdown although they do not register at the FPS counter(Might be my imagination :P )

Try LordKane's config.

You can also try the Delta frontend and it usually gives you the best settings for your plugins for certain games.

What are your pc specs?

That has nothing to do with it. I think it's either the game or some config. I can play ff8 and 9 just fine.

I think my brother had that black box problem, so I told him to use the Pete's Direct X plugin and it works.
