Neither are mine but it is always fun to look at other peoples work, and as far as I know the only way to advance in skill is to try, try and try...

It is actually not done with the stained glass filter, instead I used crystalize / stroke to define the areas. In the end I guess it does not mather, since it is basicly the same method. I will check back later to see your skills... :D

I used a lot of effects to look like that but basically, I first did some drawings, used tons of effects :p, then i used the twirl effect.

One week, that is why he will post #130 next weekend... ;) For you and me a couple of hours, for someone more familiar with PS and actually equipped with skill it could be anything in the 15 to 60 minutes range...

same to you [d.o.u.g.].. yours look fresh and new :D.. i like your style..

Remote.. all i've seen you do is use a bunch of easy to use special effects :p.. so to say it takes you an hour.. nice.. show me then talk.. it took me bout 15-20 mins.. but if you want to believe it took me a week then go ahead and do that :).. and me telling you i made it in 15 mins is not called braging coz it don't really matter now does it?.. best stuff i've made has taken me months to make.. if you know anything about art it is that it should not be rushed :)..

Remote
March 4th, 2002, 05:35
A bad joke is when you have to explain that it is actually a joke, i.e when someone will have to post a reply saying that their last post was not meant to be serious... It could have taken a week for you, but since you obviously are skilled that is why I guessed that you completed that piece in a small time frame...

...and actually equipped with skill it could be anything in the 15 to 60 minutes range...

I can honestly say that I have not created such a good looking piece but I see no reason for why I should not be able to. And I defenitely agree, walk the walk before you do the talk... And a couple of hours is always more then one... Two is a pair, three is a couple...

RatTrap
March 4th, 2002, 06:19
that's not what trigered me.. it's that so many ppl think that it has to do with time.. it don't :).. if you joke on my expense i don't care at all.. many have b4 here online.. and even started threads about making fun of me and i really rather laugh with them/you :).. so don't believe i was offended about that.. usually i just get ticked of at the ignorance of ppl and when i get replies like that it makes me reply in a kind of harsh way.. sorry if you got that from me now.. i can't expect everyone to know why i do what i do..

to explain:..
if it takes someone 15 mins.. to do something that takes me 3 months to do.. i would not feel that i am not as good.. or that i am better at all than the person who could do the same in less time.. to me this is nothing of a competition.. i don't do things to impress on ppl really.. it's why nobody has seen the 128 others and my oil paintings anywhere online.. i don't do this kind of thing to show it off.. i do it for myself.. if it takes me years or minutes to do has no meaning to me.. it's the trip that counts.. not the destination..

Eddy
March 4th, 2002, 06:57
Well, i think RatTrap has real skills, and thats the reason why it takes soo long, or maybe he works on it little time a day and time is scattered throughout the week. What gets me is how he creates the shapes with photoshop shapes and bevels, the rest isnt easy but in my reach.

it's dificult to brake from a winning concept/idea/style :).. but if you really wanna make diferent type things.. maybe you should try just looking around you.. and not be afraid if it don't turn out any good.. if you don't know what looks bad.. it's hard to know what looks good.. and vice verse..

your bound to find something that catches your eye if you look around.. and make you stare at it more then other things.. you could just draw something out of that.. it might not even end up looking or resembling what you started looking at or even the idea you had.. but you might have gotten a totally diferent result then the stuff you've made b4.. and doing that enugh times you find ways to mold your creations into what you yourself like..

and then if someone tells you something sucks.. that don't really matter.. what's important is what you think..
