Problem with Mario Party 2

In Mario Party 2, There is this one game, Magnet Carta I think it's called, the game completly slows down and sometimes it even freezes. Is there anyway to fix this? I really like this game and want to play it without any problems.

Magnet Carta, the 2 vs 2 mini-game.

It slows down to 4.78 FPS.

Is there a way to fix this?

Heres the save state. I saved it at the instruction screen of magenet carta, it shoudl slow down after the announcer says "Start!" and you are Mario with every mini game unlocked(yes battle and item).

Not sure if this has any relevancy, but are you using any cheats?
