Every time i run a game in directx im getting massive fps drops to 12fps-20fps
with opengl i got no problem, but the games are glitchy =/

System:
Ati Radeon 9800XT(newest driver)
1.5gb DDR Ram
Pentium 4 HT 3.4ghz
Windows XP Home Sp1(dont tell me to upgrade to sp2 ^^)

Anyone can help me out?

just set the resolution to 640x48016 bit color depth and activate antiisotrophic filtering and antialiasing, the other things should be deactivated. It works for me

A 9800XT is capable of very high resolutions, are you sure you didn't set the option "Copy framebuffer to RDRAM" on and forgot to turn it off?

Also, if the above is not the issue, does it happen in PC Games that use DirectX?

Nope it doesn't happen in Pc Games... they run fine :)
"Copy framebuffer to RDRAM" is set off... also what i noticed is when you play with 64k 1.3 it forces the plugin to use directx instead opengl as set in the options.

Nothing better at the moment =/

use jabo´s d3d8 1.6 plug-in
Using it.. still massive frame drops

are you on DX9c?

also what i noticed is when you play with 64k 1.3 it forces the plugin to use directx instead opengl as set in the options.

I dont undertsand what you mean there.

Also have you tried unregging Project64 "ALL" and reinstalling?
Might also be worth uninstalling your GFX drivers and do a new clean install of them.

no idea sorry.. something wrong with your system i think?
does it happen in all games e..g. Mario64?
are you using a clean installl of v1.6 with default settings?
do you have any background tasks running? e.g. virus checkers etc
how long does the slowdown last? can you spot any pattern to it?
