Im running the latest version of project 64, with everthing set to default.

My specs are 768 of ram, celeron 2.8, ati radeon 7200, win xp

now, to the problem. some games run at 15 or less fps, and ultra jerky, and some, like master quest, run fine at a good 60 fps for a while, then all of a sudden jerks back down to 15 or less.

please help, at the time i play i have closed all processes except for vital ones.

its getting really frustrating. and yes, i have read the readme, help files, etc.

Maybe a PC upgrade? I have a Nvidia GeForce FX 5900 Ultra, AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3200+ 2.00 GHz, and 1.00 GB of RAM and most games run pretty good for me at about 60 fps or so.

No idea what is causing this, if the framerate decrease is that sharp, perhaps worth turning Vsync off to see if that helps.

How would i do that? I dont mind if the quality is worse, as long as the darn game plays. Any other things i should adjust?

Seems to be a memory leak, maybe you can update your drivers or run windows update to fix the possible problem. You can also try rambooster to optimize the memory (http://www.sci.fi/~borg/rambooster/)

I tried everything you guys said, i even tried evoodo/glide 64. Same problem.

Is it a hardware problem (too slow)

or a software? If that, should i just wipe it my hdd and start over?

Im thinking of wiping it and putting windows 2000 back on. Would that work?

Considering all the crap and programs and error messages, it might.

Well, I think that will work, but re-installing XP may also do miracles.

do you mean wiping the drive and then reinstalling, or just re-installing xp?

It's better to wipe the drive to get optimal results.

Word that I got is that with an Intel processor, you should stay with Windows XP. You should then go to Blackviper.com to see which services to disable.
