Something's screwed up with the PC clock

Okay, I don't know why or how this happened, so here's my problem. The clock is always inaccurate. I try synching the time to a server, and try setting it to the right time in the BIOS. This method works for a while, but when the PC's turned off and then turned on again at a later time, the clock doesn't stay to what it's supposed to be. Is it CMOS battery related or what?

maybe, are your bios settings reseted at each startup too? if yes , that's the battery, if no, I dunno...

My first incling would be the bios battery, it is what keeps the cmos charged, [cmos is volitile memory] if that goes your cmos will lose all its data, including I believe the time. Yup... I believe your battery is deadish. go find a replacement :P

I'm 100% sure it's the battery. Replace it.

It seems it only effect the clock (thank goodness it hasn't messed up any other settings such as AGP Aperture of Multiplier speed). Everything else is saved into the CMOS. I also assume that batteries are about $10-$20 (?)

I have this problem too, with almost the same kind of motherboard (no firewire on mine).. however I'm too lazy to replace the battery just because of the clock, I just resync it on bootup..

If the battery is low but not dead the computer is smart enough to use it to save only what it deems worthy of saving to preserve itself. The clock is not one of those things.
