What's new

buying a new video card

At your service, dood!
It being a pci slot means your choice is incredibly limited, and pci cards tend to be uberslow as well.

Geforce4mx's come in PCI form though I know that.

I recently bought a Geforce FX5200 PCI card for one of my spare boxes (P3 1ghz). Can run ut2k4 no problem, albeit with some tweaks to the detail settings. Also Nvidia is the way to go if you use linux at all....

A new motherboard is what you need. Seriously, if it doesn't have AGP (or PCI-E) its time to upgrade.

What are you going to use the computer for mainly? For emulation purposes, a PCI 3dfx card would be fine. Seriously though, most PCI cards won't be able to run modern PC games at moderately good settings so...

It's faster than Intel by an ok amount, but it is not a great card at all, since it has just 64-Bit memory (half the bandwidth of the regular 9200) and only supports DX8.1. Do not buy if it is rather expensive, although I would not spend too much on a PCI card anyway. I'd probably recommend a FX 5200 (128-Bit).
