Yeah that looks pretty unbeatable. ;)

I remember competing a with a friend while having some beers before a night out, I think the best we got was 9 sec on the small one. :P

I did not knew that it was minesweeper in english, the direct translation of what we get in portuguese is minefield, funny!

Clements, you got more bombs there than iraq, however my beloved is "the" fastest mine sweeper alive, if it counts for something.
Merry Xmas to you all guys!

There is a cheatcode for that thing! zxzyzz or something to that effect, and only in windows 2000 i think.

loopsider, man don´t do that.
my wife had a click onto the screen and BAM!, everything was clear, if you ever played this little game you would know that sometimes large portions fo the field get opened because of the distance between the bombs, she just got lucky, it was not some dhalai lama insight or a cheat code.
I knew that someone would come up with that, i am sorry for your lack of sportsmanship.

loopsider: you can't register that as a high score with the cheat. Anyhow, for a programming project I got bored and made this: http://geocities.com/sethmcdoogle/winminehack.zip (only tested on the English version of Windows XP Pro). It lets you play minesweeper with the timer disabled, it gets patched in memory. Just launch the program and click OK, it should spawn minesweeper. Take notice of the timer when you start playing. Allows the score to register, too! :) Since the patch is in-memory, it's only temporary. Close minesweeper and it goes back to normal!

Edit: Title says SP1a, it's what I initially wrote it under, it also works on SP2, and though I've not tried, original XP edition should work as well.

Sethmcdoogle, is it possible to calculate the spot that my wife clicked through the screenshot?

Not entirely sure, there probably is since most of these games/clones use the same style algorithm to clear the screen. With no researching into it, my guesses are as follows, most likely the top-left or bottom-right highlighted area :

EDIT: Meh, I just realized this is a custom board size, 16*16 with 10 mines, that's no fun!

my guess would be the area at the top right ´cause she always start somewhere near there, but it is quite impossible both to make the place certain or to replicate the phenomenon.

It's pretty easy to replicate since there are so few mines.

4 or 5 years ago, my record with 99 mines expert level was 81 seconds.

Dont be so hostile because I presented some facts :P. I did not lose anything, therefore the assumption of having bad sportsmanship has very little basis. While I do believe it was done, I mentioned there was a cheatcode so as to not trust all scores. Anyway, you are blowing this out of proportion, you imposter reploid.
