Mixer Problem (Right Forum This Time...)

I'm getting

'mupen64: simple.c:1377: snd_mixer_selem_get_playback_volume_rang e: Assertion `elem' failed.
Aborted'

as the commmand line output when trying to run games. I have sound set to use ARTS, but trying null didn't help matters. I've always had sound problems (doesn't everyone with Linux?), but any programs that can use ARTS usually work fine. Any help would be appreciated.

if you're using gap i can't help you as i've never gotten it to work on my computer (but some people like it, so i've included it). Do you have tried jttl's sound plugin ?

Simply don't use arts, it's crap. Use ALSA only. ;)
Modern Cards support hardware mixing, so if you're Card can't handle hardware mixing, go and get a new card. You'll never need crappy arts again.
