Nintendo DS New Feature

It's amazing what a simple call to Nintendo Tech Support can yield, I called them about my Gamecube giving me "Disc Cannot Be Read" error, and as we finished debugging the problem, I asked "There's a lot of rumors circulating about the latest DS features, one of them happens to be a wireless hookup for online play with the DS built in, any truth in this?" to which he replied quite politely, "Well, the DS will actually be coming with 2 different Wireless interfaces, your standard Wi-Fi link-up for close range games, and an 802.11x (where x could be b or g, he wasn't sure) for what our goal is, online play, but this is dependant on our game developers." Thanking him profusely for telling me what even the media sites wouldn't I ended the conversation and hung up, only to post it here, so, there you have it, the DS will have an 802.11 connection for home wireless networks and any wireless hotspots.

So, anything you read saying theres rumor of a wireless net type connection included is true, if you won't believe me call nintendo tech support.

Hrmm, well then, sorry, the latest around the GBATemp rumor mill was the inclusion of an internet matching service with wireless net setup, my mistake in thinking this was new.
