View Full Version : Recent downtime (server being attacked)

The reason for the recent downtime is that the server is being attacked by (at least we think so) hyper19s's friend. hyper19s was recently banned and want to get back at us it seems.

The attacks are in form of Denial of Service and although a firewall has been configured to stop access from the attacking IPs it's possible the server will go down again.

how lame, this is proof that this loser needed banned.

I understand your position completely, i've had this bother on an IRC network before, where attacks have taken place (retired myself from that crap though) :)

Thanks for letting us know, i thought I was going crazy when I saw access denied earlyier.

Yeah, no doubt about it. The IPs that attacked the server have been reported to the ISPs abuse departments.

Just a little warning: Do NOT hammer the server with requests because you will be automatically banned throughout the whole network. Gotta love the new firewall and antidos script. :)

the whole network or just the sites on that particular box?:P And isn't it funny that the same tactic to deal with floods on irc also applies to servers?, although the irc script to do it is more advanced than what you've got loaded up:D

Well the particular server that's being attacked, not really the whole network. :P

So that's the reason that some pages loaded up to a point sometimes... I told you that I'm not insane :P

A great comment and greatly fit in this position. It's just a f*cking bastard, who can't understand that he's banned!

He's probably distributing a hex-edited version of MyDoom :P Highly doubt he has friends!

So that's why recently, when I wanted to go to EmuTalk, Mozilla just said "Looking up emutalk.net" on the bottom left corner and then even the ping command failed to find emutalk.net. I ended up getting the message, "Ping request could not find emutalk.net. Please check the name and try again." (I used the ping command to see if the ping command can at least acknowledge that the domain name, emutalk.net exists.) I was unable to access EmuTalk that day :(.

Hyper has friends? well, we've got a number of theories on how this came to pass that I don't think would be appropriate to mention here:P And, for the record, the person behind the DDoS attack used windows IIS exploits as the fodder, of course this did nothing as the boxes are running linux, but the sheer number of requests conked it out.
