It works for me; what are your settings? Go into the Video Config dialog, set video mode to custom, then setup the custom video mode the way you want it. Then close and press Alt+Enter ;)

I get an error report message as soon as I press Alt+Enter.

I get an error report message as soon as I press Alt+Enter.I hope it's not a Windows XP SP2 problem. :(
