Problem with emulator

how come when i start a rom sometimes the colors are all weird and messed up or sometimes the game wount work when it starts. sometimes when i play some games the sides are frozen on the screen.i use a G-force 3 something but its one of the best G-Force 3s out there.i got the newest version of Nemu64 also.does anyone know how to fix it??
