At last a DC emulator that runs commercial games is going to be released in about a month from now. Is it going to be as good as it seems? We'll find out sooner or later.
Ah and here are some screenshots showing its latest progress. ;)

Sonic Adventure 2:

Unreal 2:

Metropolis street racer:

Tony Hawk 2:

Jet grind radio:

There are also some other screenshots and a couple of videos released here and there. You can use a search engine like google to find them if you are interested.

Well the only known fake DC emulator is nightmare.
There are some noobs saing that Icarus is fake but it isn't. Both F|RES and ector who are known for their recent Gamecube project (Dolphin) and of course CyRUS64 who is known for his efford on a N64 emulator (Daedalus) were working on Icarus.
If you enable the "overlay some statistics" option on Dolphin's GFX plugin configuration you'll see that some statistics are displayed on the screen just like on some Icarus screenshots.
Anyway ChankaDC is going to take part on a Dreamcast coding competition on this or the next month.

Looks real to me. JGR shows some clipping and texture errors, Tony Hawk 2 has miscolored text, which isn't an issue on the real thing. This will definitely make an interesting emu.

well yeah, but i was on about this emulator mate, i just think its strange how an unknown dreamcast emulator can come out of the blue without no news about it previously and play many games well. Too good to be true to be honest :)

Good news! According to a Spanish radio program that is related to emulation, ChankaDC is going to be released in this or the next week! The compatibility is not very high (aprox.10%) but it increases with amazing speed. The emulation speed is quite high (Tony Hawk 2 runs at 60 fps with sound under an AMD 2600). If you speak Spanish you can download the recorded radio program from EMULATRONIA (http://www.emulatronia.com).

ChankaDC is going to be released in a few days so many people would like to know its requirements, here they are:

CPU with SSE instructions (Intel P3/P4 or AMD XP)
ATI Radeon or nVida GeForce (with the last drivers)
DirectX 9.0b
Windows XP and maybe 2003 (other Windows versions are NOT supported)

This ChankaDC release will have the following features:

Compatibility is about 10%
Some games work at 40fps
Near perfect sound (P4 2Ghz or AMD XP 2600).
Tony Hawk works at 60fps with sound!!

29 of May (the Saturday!!!). During this week the compatibility has been increased considerably and now games like Marvel versus Capcom 2 work, Daytona the USA, Crazy Taxi, Capcom versus the SNK, Grandia 2... and very many more. Also the VMU have been emulated and support of joystick has been added.

Emm... I don't know how to say this, but there seem to be severe GFX problems in some games with Nvidia cards (GeForces only, TNTs work fine). Plus, running games from a boot disk is not supported (only selfbootable games run). The authors are trying to fix these problems before the release date (tommorow) but they may not make it on time , in that case these problems will probably be fixed on the next release.

This emulator is gonna rock, I think i'm gonna have to buy some used dreamcast games to play on this emulator if it works great. I especially wanna try out Marvel vs Capcom 2 because I haven't had a chance to really play the game.

Oh my god, this is so cool! It's been so long since the dc first came out (6 years), and now we're finally getting a good emu to play with! This is going to be great playing Sonic Adventure on the pc, with the original sonic model.
Oh man! That coaster works video looks great! Although a little suspicious

i would love to try some of my old dreamcast games, but i don't know how to :(
i did ask on the DCemu site but they only told me off about it and to go look on google. which i did for hours and only found out dodgy prgrams which claim to burn all kinds of games, dvds and of course dc games, however i can't imagine it works if the drive cannot read the disk. i heard of a similar rumor about using a bb adaptor similar to the GC way of extracting data from cds, thus using the original dc as a drive. this is fine but i cant find a guide anywhere on how to do this in detail. i'm hoping you guys can help me more as you understand im not asking for illegal copies of roms, i want to try sonic adventure, grandia 2 and skies of arcadia (my own copies), i can't actually play them easily as i have no room for a TV in my bedroom. and about the graphics cards which lack compatibility - how will my video card do (considering it is nvidia)

Card name: NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200 with AGP8X
Manufacturer: NVIDIA
Chip type: GeForce4 Ti 4200 with AGP8X
DAC type: Integrated RAMDAC

i have a relatively fast processor but that wont help if the card is unsupported! any comments?

Hrmm, I got the emulator, and a BIOS file named IP.bin at 32 kb. After I rename it to DC_Bios.bin so chanka recognizes it, but in MVC2 and select my drive, I hit Init to start it up, and the program does nothing but start consuming memory, am I doing something wrong?

can anyone tell me if chankast uses D3D OR OPENGL32#

note that cd emulation makes a lot of difference:

DAEMON TOOLs : slow emulation and some games crashes.

Alchool 120% : very fast , 200x the speed of daemon tools, higher frame rate
the games gains extra 10fps with this emulation over daemon tools
