I've got problems with Killer Instinct Gold!!!

it may be the amount of RAM that your radeon has, insufficiant VRAM usually causes black on games, a newer video card should help, and if you get the chance, upgrade your RAM too, 512MB is essential these days for speed

The graphics card isn't the cause of this problem. Basically all Radeon cards are compatible with jabo's plugin.
The black sprites and the slow video are plugin related issues.
I would recommend you to use jabo's d3d6 1.40 with 1964 v.0.8.5 for this game.
On 1964 with jabo's 1.4 plugin it runs great for me (although there are still some glitches).
