AIM 5.5.3501, New Beta

So the new beta is finally out, linked buddylists look like a good idea but that god awful games option is still there, I however won't be using this until I get word that my all time faorite add on AIMutation (http://www.aimutation.com) (thats a link by the way) is compatible, which I have no doubt the next beta of 1.2 will be. Let me know what you guys think.

Trillian is cool, MSN sucks, Yahoo is OK I guess. Never tried Miranda though.

They are all annoying as hell! I'm fed up with these instant messengers! Call me anti-social, but when I'm browsing the web I don't want to be interupted and end up having a conversation that I don't want but do anyway out of politeness. I can't multi-task very well!

*shrug* They are very convenient compared to having a conversation via e-mail. Or when I want to talk to friends over the 'net that I have yet to meet in real life. :)

One thing I just do is set up all of my options (using Trillian) to just reject people I don't want to talk to, which is most everybody anyways, and I only talk to those on my friends lists. :)

I had a bad experience a couple of times with Windows Messenger [Details will not divulge!] so perhaps I'm a little grumpy about it! And I also blocked some family members because they hacked my comp... and I realised it was more trouble than it was worth!

Yeah, Messenger programs are much cheaper than text messaging and quicker than email. I just rarely use them.

I don't use any instant messenger programs. Everytime I have one, it lasts on my computer for about a week before I turn it off.

I used to use instant messengers all the time, but now I just use yahoo mostly. AIM i use once in a while if I want to talk to somebody for the hell of it, MSN to check my mail. Yahoo I mostly use now because i have mail on that and I speak to more people on that, but have less buddies compared to my other ones, heh.

i don't really use IM either anymore. people are so fecking annoying. i'd much rather troll emutalk.... HA HA HA.

seriously though, when i HAVE used them trillian is pretty good. miranda is so ugly, and doesn't file xfer well. none of them do actually. gaim is making strides, maybe one day......

Miranda looks the same as your windows gui. No extra mem usage for some useless skin.

And yes, there are some troubles with file transfers, but there are ways to get around that. All it takes is the proper plugin. I like it because its simple, does what it needs to do and thats it. If you want more out of it, just get some plugins...they work like extensions in mozilla. On the other hand, trillian is not a bad option either, I just like this more.


For those of you who dont use instant messengers, thats okay. But why do you waste your time posting in a thread about instant messengers to tell people how you dont use them?
