Howdy gents.

Anyone know how to transfer music files stored on a Mini Disc, over to a PC, without the use of a USB cable? Using, obviously, a portable Mini Disc player/recorder.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanky. :satisfied

Optical cable from MD to correct port on soundcard, not sure which port that is though.. Toslink is the correct name of the cable...

This method requires he has an optic port on his MD, but most do I guess. The problem is that the transfer rate is very slow - a song that's 3 minutes long takes 3 minutes to transfer. :P

I rarely use my MD anymore because of this.

Cool. It's the only option I have, unfortunatly. And the track I need is 70 mins. :P

Make sure you are aware though, that neither Toslink nor S/PDIF (one converts to optical and back, S/PDIF is only slightly better, both use the same digital audio protocol) are exactly a 1:1 transmission. It's pretty close to 1:1, but there is a bit of jitter.
