I use womble mpeg vcr, it has a gay name but it allows you to cut without having to re-encode the video, which is fast and saves on image quality.

Maybe Adobe Premiere can also do the job, but it's not free

I have premier, but although it's suposed to support MPEGS it cant open the ones i create using my Digital TV card. I'm told its because the created mpegs have a vairiable bit rate??

I know womble works with VBR, because the mpeg-2 I get off of my DBS (digital broadcast satellite) stream is VBR.

It isn't free, but you can probably find it on emule. It's about 2 megs IIRC; pretty small.

Downloaded the trial and im pretty impressed with it...

now for my second question...

What program could help with making a DVD, converting to whatever formats and making menus and things.
