View Full Version : Resident Evil 2 will never get done on PJ64?

I'm looking here for a definitive answer on RESIDENT EVIL 2 - is it playable on any version of Project64 so far released? If it isn't properly functional on any of the PJ64 releases thus far, will there be another release of this emulator that fixes the problems relating to RE2, so that it will play the right way?
In all other instances, I'd say PJ64 is one of the best emulators out there, it plays brilliantly on most of the games, just a shame it didn't manage to recreate this big, famous title.

Using the unofficial RSP, you can play the game, but movies won't play until:
A) A really good plugin is developed
B) A new version of the unoffical/official RSP
C) Both A and B
Sound is also choppy.
Hope this helps

if you read the game compatibility thread, you'll find a long discussion on this that decides that RE2 can be played, and with the default plugins.

I finished the game with both Leon and Claire, using Pj64 v1.5 with the default plugins (except the sound : Asimer's v0.40 beta2) and the game was fully playable

you were using Azimer's audio why exactly please? (this is important to get the RDB right!)

when you say the 'default plugins' you mean, playing the game straight off without altering/changing anything. Just dowmload the emulator and load the rom - ready to go? If so, and it is playable, that is, playable NOW, I may as well download it today and go zombie hunting :D Right?

Yes, I did paly the game without changing anything. I just sometimes got little depth problems (known issue I think)
I've only used Azimer's plugin because with Jabo's, I get this horrible choppy sound (same as in The World is not Enough). The sound is far from being perfect

interesting, so in these two games you get bad sound, but in every other game Jabo's gives you good sound? do any other games apart from these two have bad sound with Jabo's? many thanks

Yes, I only use Azimer's plugin for those two games. Jabo's one is perfect for the others.
Actually, it's only the digitalized voices that are choppy in those two games.
