Hey, please don't take this as a complaint, and I'm not trying to nag, nor am I asking for a release date. I'm just wondering if there's going to be a new version of project64 someday?
It's just that the last release was so good, adding compatability for virtually every game. The only problems now seem to be tiny graphics glitches and really nit-picky stuff. If the next release is as strong as the last, it should fix almost all of those, I think. That's a really exciting idea, to have an n64 emulator that is practically perfect. So I'm just wondering if it's in the works or not, since there hasn't been a news update in awhile.

The official line is it's finished. The source is out there (for 1.4 anyways) for the emulator though so their is nothing to stop others coming along to add new things.
No news on anyone changing PJ64 at the moment though.

The emulator core is essentially perfect today. The issues that remain are in the graphics plugins. Several of these are under active development. Jabo's is probably the best overall right now, but maybe that will change over time.
It is very very hard to work on graphics plugins. And you really need to have a real N64 plus some special hardware for it to really make any progress. It takes an amazing amount of patience and tenacity. I don't blame any developer for taking a long vacation from that job, although the results are amazing - it is mind-blowing how well many games are emulated.
Unfortunately, Jabo's 1.5 graphics plug-in has the nasty 'pause' bug. It would be great to see just that fixed. Oh well - 1.4 works very well with many games and many graphics cards.

Nasty pause bug? I'm afraid I don't know what you're talking about! I haven't noticed anything wrong with 1.5, explain this bug to me! thanks lol

I think I know what he is talking about. It is not with every game that this happens. Some games will freeze at a frame, and then you have to pause, then reactivate the emulation to continue.
I have seen it a few times myself on a few roms, usualy on slow or ones that have known issues.

There should at least be some kind of patch or something for 1.5 to fix the stupid 'failed to allocate memory' error.

I might point out that glide64 is better than jabo's. It's the wrapper that mess things up.

Let's say they are 50:50. Glide64 has his good and his bad sides, Jabo's too, but with other games.

I'd say it's about perfect. It's better than jabo's if it wasn't for the wrapper.
Glide64 even has advantages with the wrapper now with some games...though, some games doesn't look too well.
I know that gonetz has fixed most issues that happens with other plugins.

Doom, glide64 is far from perfect.

Lets hope that the new version of Glide64 that is quite imminent can remedy that situation... :)

Most games work kindof perfect. You've even seen zelda.
Most issues are afaik created by the wrapper sadly to say.
But still it isn't perfect, i don't think anything can be perfect.

I hope there will be new version. I found that the old PJ64 version (1.5 beta 1) works better than the new one. Extreme G for example runs perfekt with the beta version, but with the new one it doesnt run fluently.

The only hope is if someone else takes over. But, as stated before, core related issues are few and far between, its mainly the video plugins that have the issues.
