What options can i turn off to make the roms go faster with out lag?

it goes fast for some games but goes laggy as hell and the sound is laggy for others

Use azimer's sound plugin. And some games just do work slow. Examples are perfect dark and conker's bad fur day. Nothing to do 'bout those.
However, I would suggest that you try 1964 if the games are running too slow, because there isn't much you can do for them.
