Emu Sound Performance

Ok, i've checked all the faqs I can find, but I still have a question:

Emus run fine on my comp with sound DISABLED. With it enabled, things slow down much. This counts for pj64, nemu, ePSXe, and others I've tried.

My systems specs:

700 MHz Athlon slotA
265 MB pc133
GeForce2 MX 32 mb agp
Asus K7M motherboard
SB Live Value

Should be the relevant stuff.

And tips and tricks for improving performance would be greatly appriciated.

I get a pop-up for (shiver) A&H here sometimes.... dunno
