1964 has its own input plugin, but others are available. Try the plugins page to download an input plugin, and then put it into the plugins folder of 1964. You can configure it from the input settings menu.

I think people are just tired.
In 1964, go to plugins, input settings. If it just shows stuff and won't let you change anything, you can use one of many plugins available. Two suggestions:
www.pj64.net, download project64 ver 1.5, and take the plugin marked either dinput or directinput or something like that .dll and drop it in the 1964 plugins folder. or, (this is what I would do)
go to http://members.chello.at/n-rage/dinput8/index.html
and grab the top link. download it. extract it. put it in your plugin folder. actually READ the directions with it, or take the time to look at it. It's an awesome plugin. it handles EVERYTHING imagineable.
