Text box is black in NO MERCY any workarounds and other games with same prob?

:emutalk: When the players stand in the ring and talk smack the text box is black so I cant imerse myself in this bad ass game so are there any work around or video plugins I need I'm using all the defaults that came with 1.5 and all system (video, audio) drivers are up to date any help appreciated thanks in advance
