DDR400 on a Mobo supporting DDR266

I have a mobo which supports DDR266 (Asus A7V266-C with VIA KT266A).
can i get a ddr400 stick and use it on it?
wont it just run at DDR266 (133mhz x 2) but with better timings taken from the SPD??
Or will it not boot at all?

from a specteck's pdf>
ddr266 & ddr333
VDD = +2.5V ±0.2V, VDDQ = +2.5V ±0.2V (For –6A & -75A)
ddr400
VDD = +2.6V ±0.1V, VDDQ = +2.6V ±0.1V (For -5B)

maybe the VDD, is a problem......
my mobo supports ram's modules @ VDD = +2.5V ±0.2V, ??? (i guess yes)

but ddr400 (5ns) is VDD = +2.6V ±0.1V,...
so, this ±0.1V... = 2.6v - 0.1v = 2.5v...(i'll getting the appropiate voltage...)

second alternative is:
with ddr333, it might work, no? (theorically it should work just fine?)

PS: someone has a similar issue, with bad results:

Normally, PC400 ram should work fine on a PC266 Mainboard. The ram normally gets underclocked to the board's maximum of 266Mhz DDR. The voltage shouldn't be a problem either, because of the fact that the ram bar runs much slower than it could. The same here for PC333.

A possibility why your suffering comrade has problems with PC400 ram bars on a PC266 Mainboard could be that his Mobo is completely incompatible with the memory brand.

shadow, DDR400 is NOT PC400, its PC3200, and DDR266 is PC2100
ggab, it should work fine, right now in my sister's pc that has a cpu that is 333 MHz FSB i have two sticks of DDR466 in there becuase that is the only ram i had onhand, it just runs underclocked with better timings

Yeah, it'll work fine don't worry about it :)

Getting faster memory always helps anyway for when you go to upgrade

generic DDR400 ram only support CL2.5 & 3.0?

my mother allows me set only cas latency of 2 & 2.5,....

could someone, who gets a generic (brand) DDR333 or 400 module, use sandra 2004 sp2b, goes to Mainboard information and finds how many Mhz are in CL 2.5/CL2.0 etc.?
example
CL2 up to 133mhz
CL2.5 up to 166mhz
CL3 up to 200mhz
