    question to the authors....

i have noticed that people say that this game x and that game y have higher system requirements to play them. My question is ok now all the n64's are identical same proc speed graphics card memory (unless you do not have the expantion pack). My question is how would the game requirements change to make emulateing it need a faster computer? Is it the way the emulation works requires more or something?

It's kinda like the framebuffer i would think.
Or some way the application handles direct3d to draw the graphics.

I will just give one simple example the idle loops. An idle loop is a loop that do nothing and is there to wait until the next interupt. On an emulator idle loop can be detected and skip to speed up emulation. So if the game use many idle loop it will be faster...

There's many other tricks that can speed up cpu emulation depending on the way the game is programmed. An other reason could be on the gfx plugin as Doom said coz pc graphic card and the n64 hardware is totally different, if the game use some effects it will slow down emulation a lot.
