Don't remember what error you got, but it won't start at all in my Win2k saying no video mode found or something like that...
But I do have the latest DirectX and gfx drivers...

nah its not ur graphic card or anything its mostly operatin system problem since it works fine on winME then its surely a windows problem i thought u have an old graphic card like mine
