I'm new here & I just got a laptop w/ 1920x1080 resolution

Wondering if I could get help installing an N64 emulator for it cause I'd like to play Paper Mario.

What part of installing an N64 emulator you need help with? Everything you need with Project64 comes with the emulator itself, excluding the games of course.

Idk. Are there specific configurations (plugins?) I need to make/download to make it as "smooth" as the gameplay videos I've seen on Youtube?

Glide64 as the graphics plugin, just make sure framebuffer emulation is enabled in the plugin condiguration window. Alternatively, download the GLideN64 graphics plugin and substitute Glide64 with that. Even less to configure unless you need to have texture packs. Mess with the settings for kicks and see what they do.
