Kind of cool I wonder if it would work with the NES version of maniac mansion? (Sorry that was a joke I couldn't resist.)
That's a classic but ... not something (definitely) you would have played as a child, your parents would have confiscated the NES and played it themselves instead.

I guess you already have the answer for yourself Maniac mansion graphic is the 2d projection of a complex 3d environment which is very hard to re-construct.
