    Constant audio crackling PJ64 1.6

Pretty sure this has been brought up before, but for one reason or another, there are a few games that suffer from audio skipping/crackling despite having excellent an excellent framerate. Take for instance, Goemon's Great Adventure (U)[!], the game runs full speed 100% never slowing down once, and yet, the audio will skip every two or so seconds. This could be in part due to the way PJ64 handles the RSP emulation, having very poor audio timing altogether. I recall using this version in the past and not having the issues I'm experiencing now. Other games suffer too, like Hybrid Heaven (runs full speed, but every thirty seconds, the game itself will skip for half a second, and continue). Sync game to audio is indeed enabled.

Emulator settings are set to default.

I would post pictures, but it won't let me link them (don't have permission apparently), so....there you have it.

You should follow the advices given here (Bighead’s N64 Multiple Game Configuration List -h) and here (Bighead’s N64 Multiple Game Configuration List - g).
Apparently Mupen64 is the only choice for correct audio in these two games.

edit : You may also use Mupen64's RSP with Project64, it may work (not sure)

That's what I was afraid of...I would use Mupen64/Mupen64 Plus, but I'm limited to the crappy Rice Video Plugin (which screws up many Konami games graphically speaking). The lack of a proper GUI also discourages me from using that emulator, but with the luck I've had in the past getting it to run, I was impressed at how well the games I tried worked. Unless someone can suggest a good, fully-functioning GUI for Mupen64 that allows me to use Glide64 Napalm, I'll have a hard time convincing myself to use it. I could wait till PJ64 to implement it's new sound engine, but I doubt that will be out anytime soon.

The Rice Video plugin is one of the best! I rarely have problems with it. The only con I could see is that versions later than 5.50b2 break Goldeneye 007.
    Unless OOT still has issues.
The last time I checked, IIRC, Jabo works the best with Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

But when I played Goldeneye 007 yesterday, it looks like Jabo actually has the sky working better than I can remember! At least the first stage.

And sadly, the pitch seems too high by a wee bit, when I was using the Jabo audio plugin yesterday.

My main beef I have with Rice video is games like Mystical Ninja 64, the audio timing is thrown off big time while using that, creating a conflict with the GPU and Audio plugins (missing channels). Not to mention the HUD in-game is jacked up. With Glide64, the game looks the way it should, the HUD is perfect, it emulates the pixel dissolve effects in all N64 games, and it doesn't affect the audio. That's why I hope Richard (whoever maintains Mupen64Plus) implements support for Glide64.

Welp, OOT has no issues with Rice that I can see. Just went to Hyrule Field today to check the sky.

And for the messed up audio, I would try another counter factor. I would start with 3 or 4.

I was talking mostly about Konami games, such as Hybrid Heaven and Mystical Ninja 64, there are missing audio channels and the HUD is jacked up/distorted. The sky in Zelda and Goldeneye 007 looks perfect in Glide64, too. I hope there's a new release once the new method that handles audio is implemented.

The only missing audio channel problem I'm aware of, is with Goldeneye.
Goldeneye always required the PJ64 RSP plugin for me.
Goldeneye always got missing audio samples without the PJ64 RSP plugin!

thats because you suffer from blindness and ignorance.

The crackling is caused by the core audio timing, synchronise with jabo's audio plugin instead.
