    Rules of Unofficial Emulation Projects

As of January 6th, 2011, these rules apply to all subforums of "Unofficial Emulation Projects" unless otherwise stated.

    1. Upholding the License Policy

This only applies to you if both conditions below are met:

    • You are releasing binaries to the public.
    • You began your project by expanding from a licensed one, such as a GPL project. (For example, 1964.)

It is expected that you abide by the license agreement at some point. For example, if it is a GPL project, you are expected to release the source code.

Should the license agreement require source code to be released, you are expected to justify why you are not releasing it at this time.
    --

Investigation by the moderators may be warranted in either of the following cases:

    • The original author(s) of the project express concern that the license is not being upheld correctly.
    • You as the author express no desire to uphold the license agreement or are unaware of it.

Each case will be dealt with on a one-to-one basis.

    2. Asking for Binaries/Source

As an author of an unofficial emulation project you reserve the right to deny the release of binaries and source code to the end user.

    Users should not:

    • Ask for binaries
    • Ask for source code*

    * If you think the author has violated Rule 1, alert moderators and the matter will be handled by them.

Each case will be dealt with on a one-to-one basis.

    3. We reserve the right to change these rules at any time without warning.
