It doesn't crash for me using PJ64, Vista or WinXP SP3. If you try OB64, you will notice memory usage goes up very fast for each chapter and battle scene until it crash when free memory is fully used up. I don't use hires texture pack.

Ok that's two people who have problems with the plugin and vista.

So

Confirmed problem with running on Windows Vista(Using textures causes the emulator to crash or any texture enhancing features)

But I don't encounter high memory usage resulting in crash for Zelda, Paper Mario or Pokemon Stadium 2. So, I am not sure what is so special about OB64 that cause the crash.

I have the same problem where P64 crashes after loading the textures. I have vista 32-bit. Has anyone tried playing around with different compatibility modes?

Your second post doesn't even make sense since there is no such thing of 16 bit OS these days.
Windows Vista uses a more powerful graphics driver(Not gpu drivers) which makes games slower on old systems.

EDIT:
Just run windows debug on project 64 and i can confirm that the plugin is causing Access Violations

I never encountered any problems with Vista64 and Rice, so it have to be a system problem, NOT a vista or 64bit problem! I can guarantee that.

MasterPhW it is a problem with this plug in and vista.
The source code that this is based off (6.1.2) seems to have a problem with vista or at least access problems.

MasterPhW have you even tried this plugin out?
If so have you set the exe to anything (Like computability modes?)
I have no problem with the latest of mudlords.
I've never tried anything older then mudlords latest.

I'm still convince it's a problem with this plugin and vista.

Even if it isn't a vista specific problem at least we know it has something to do with Access Violations.

Yeah, sorry if I missspelled the last sentence, I never had problems with all builds of mudlords Rice builds, I even started a retexture project with it.
But I didn't tried the Aristotle's builds yet, because I hadn't time to. I also thought that this version was build on the newer mudlord sources, not the old rice ones.
Why is it so?

Any idiot can see he is referring to 16bit colour.

Also, I tried 16-bit color and messed around with some of the compatibility options, but nothing worked consistently.

I have never had any startup crash using PJ64 v1.6 on WinXP or Vista SP1. Not sure about PJ64 v1.7 on vista.

Such error usually means that the code is trying to access a memory address that is not allocated by itself.
For example, it creates a texture memory block of 256*256. In somewhere in the code, it tries to access the texture as 512*512.
For another example, a texture is created as a 16bit texture. Some new code never pays attention to the texture bit depth, and tries to process it as a 32bit texture.
