    first time user help

    i have linux mupen
    i can load a ROM but when i play it crashes

    This looks particularly bad... Your X server may be to blame. Or if Xlib doesn't check for version mismatches, Xlib and the X server could be at different versions. Can you tell us what distro you are running, and if you have specifically modified any "X" related packages? It may be time to upgrade your distro. I'm not sure how plausible it would be to update an entire system to X.org 7.0 because its been particularly long since i've ran a system with less than that. The problem could be a thread related one too, which would be on Mupen64s part.

    If you like you can try the Mupen64-AMD64 (Notice: works on 32-bit PCs too) branch as it has various fixes over Mupen64 0.5. Mupen64 0.5 is quite out of date at this point so you can't expect it to work on newer PCs as there are many small complications that can occur, be it ABI breaking or something more complex.

    OK thanks for that respone. i googled "Xlib: unexpected async reply" and preatty much got the same information that you said, wow. i will try the new one...
