need help with system specs and speed

I have the super smash rom for dolphin and i cant seem to get it to work right. The menu fps hovers from 6-8 and in game is 1-3. The sound doesnt work either (unless i turn anti skip on then it plays for a second then stops) but the menu select noises still work. I would think my system could handle this a bit better and am asking if there are some settings i should change to optimize. I cant find exactly how to fix what i need.

Specs:
geforce 7600gt
amd 4200 2.4 dual core
2gb ram (dual)
