Fastest emulator

I am fairly new to N64 emulation, and I have a relatively old comuputer that is pretty slow. Is there any way that I can speed up PJ64 without buying any additional hardware? It is usually around 20 fps. And just out of curiosity, does fps stand for frames per second?

drop the resolution to minimums of 640x480, and yes it does.

It is already at 648X480. I have tried everything I can think of. I tried to use the emulator that I heard was the fastest,Corn, and I can't get it to work. When I open it ther is just a white screeen. There are no menus or anything, just a white screen and the blue bar on top with the windows flag symbol on it.

Can anyone tell me what the fastest N64 emulator is. I have a pretty slow computer with win 2000. What would work best?

1964 is the fastest functional n64 emulator currently available, followed by Project64 but both have advantages over each other.

I'd recommend trying Project64 to see what happens (either way you'll have to install it because some of the best plugins are in that package and trust me you'll need em for 1964), 1964 is definitely the fastest emulator core though.

Strictly speaking the fastest emulator for the n64 is Corn but it only runs Mario64 and isn't compatible with newer os's.

Edit, i almost forgot, if you want to know your system specs, go to your start menu and hit run, type in dxdiag and hit enter. Tell us the key details like CPU Speed, memory and graphics details. If your computer is old do not expect too much from it but we need more info than the operating system to determine that.

Ok, thanks alot. But are the specs what is on the first tab of the menu that comes up? Ex: Processor, Page file, and memory.

I remember of an emulator called Corn. It said to be the first N64 emulator to implement static recompilation and was programmed by ContraSF. Compatibility of corn was pretty low, it run Super Mario 64 and a few more games, but it was the fastest emulator I have ever seen (on a low, low end machine). Try googling for it!

I have tired this one. But I cant get it to work. It has CornL and CornH. When I open either of them, there is just a white screen, and no menus bars or anything, just the white screen and the blue windows bar at the top with the windows flag symbol. How do I lget it to work?

Try using Nemu64 or UltraHLE 2064, probably using the Glide64+evoodoo combination. We have nothing to go on since you have not posted any system specifications. If your PC only has a 400MHz processor or slower, I suggest you buy a new PC if you wish to have N64 run adequately.
