Help with Loading saves

I'm new to project64 and having trouble loading saved games. I've started playing Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask and have saved my progress using the emulation save system (F5) which creates a save file with the extension .pj. I cannot open the file because it isn't recognised by windows. Can anybody help? Is there another way to save?

Start the game and press Ctrl+L to load a state.

Or play the Song of Time / use owl statues for a method that never fails.

You don't open save states in Windows, you open then in Project64. Start the game again, and click on System --> Load. Select the save state you made earlier and PJ64 will load it.

There isn't a load section in the system drop down menu. Why is this?

You possibly haven't unchecked the 'Hide Advanced Settings' checkbox in the Settings menu.
