Hmm... It's plug and play compatible. It doesn't need any drivers. The problem is probably related to USB drivers of the operating system. Try installing the latest drivers of the mainboard (also check for USB specific drivers) and the latest Windows service pack (if needed). Also remember that USB plug and play devices need Windows 98 SE or greater in order to work.
It's WinXP with SP2...
It always tries to find the driver and then stopped wthout finding one...
The crazy thing is, it worked with the PC of his mom with nearly the same config...

from logitech site.Logitech Stereo USB Headset 250
The Logitech Stereo USB Headset 250 connects to the PC through the USB port, and requires no setup — itīs plug and play. USB allows the headset to perform consistently on any system. The USB technology is able to produce high-quality digital audio independent of the computerīs sound card, which is an advantage over non-USB headsets if the computerīs sound card is not of a high quality.
EDIT: what type of device windows says to be found?
Is there some "generic" driver?
Logitech has this listed as a known issue when using USB headsets/microphones, but in XP they claim it's fixed if your using SP2.

Not sure if you can, but you might try installing the two hotfixes listed even though your already on SP2?

If he didn't fix it yet try to reinstall Service Pack 2. It may fix the problem![]()
