N64 Full Sound in Resident Evil 2

I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this but it is Project64 related. If it isnt in the right forum could you move this to the correct forum please.

I have figured out how to achieve full sound in Resident Evil 2 with no speech glitches using Azimer's project64 audio fix edition

    http://www.emutalk.net/apollo/15514-...der-audio.html

It is pretty complicated for those who don't understand advanced Counter Factor settings and such. I used these plugins while testing this.

    Video: Glide64 Wonder Plus

Sound: Azimer's HLE Audio v0.55.1 Alpha

    Controller: N-Rage's Direct-Input8 v2 1.83

    Reality Signal Processor (RSP): None

    1. What you do is start the rom then quit instantly but don't exit the emulator. (when you start the rom go to File---> End Emulation)
    2. go to options--->settings...--->click the tab for Rom Settings
    3. Make sure CPU Core Style is set to Recomplier
    Self-Modifying Code Method: Protect Memory
    Memory Size: Default
    Advanced Block Linking: Off
Default Save Type: Use First Used Save Type
    "Counter Factor" (Most Important): 3
Don't check any of the check boxes below

Then hit Ok and start the rom. Let it run until it gets to the first movie and starts producing sound. Then end the emulation but don't close the emulator again. Then go back to the Rom Settings page same as described above and switch the Counter Factor to 1

One last thing. On the Glide64 graphics plugin I recommend playing on 512x384 because these settings really drain Processor Speed even for the higher end PC's. I tried 640x480 and it even slowed down on that. Don't forget to turn on Depth Buffer Render on the Glide64 plugin to fix some glitches in the game.

    My PC Specs: AMD Athlon 64bit 3200+, 2GIG DDR400 RAM 4x512 Sticks, SATA HD 200GB, Geforce 6600 GT 128MB.

I have tested this hypothesis on 2 of my PC's in my home and they both passed my test.

NOTE: I only tested this on the (U) version of Resident Evil 2. I don't know if it will work on Biohazard 2 (J) but its worth a shot. I've tested both PC's about 8 times... I think thats enough to say this might work. If you save a game and go to replay it you will have to repeat this step to get full sound again.

This is another way until someone produces the right sound plugin for this game. I'm gonna make a video on this and post it on my website for all to see... Give me about 2 Hours.

If anyone has any questions please reply to this topic and i'll post when I can.

EDIT: Please go to the third page for an update, and a video showing proof that this works.

    *BUMP*

I think this should be stickied because this solution has worked for many of my friends in my community too.

I didnt get this to work as soon as Glide switches to fullscreen, PJ64 crashes. This is not a Glide64 WP Problem though, as Glide64 WP works fine with PJ64 1.6 and Azimer's Audio HLE Audio Version: 0.56 WIP2 and N-Rage N64 DInput8 Version: 1.83. Using your settings, setting counter factor first to 3 and then to 1 after first FMV and disableing the first option of Azimer's Audio HLE Audio Version: 0.56 WIP2 (Dynamic Audio Sync) i seem to get 90% working speech though. Only sometimes the speech turns to garbage (rarely) but when i pause and resume it's fixed.

I wonder which Glide Wrapper did you use? Or do you have a Voodoo2 or other 3dfx addon card? I use Zeckensack 0.84c its the only one that works with my ATI 9800Pro. BTW I could use 800x600 fine with my somewhat aged Sys and always ran at 30fps, prolly could even use more but since i play over TV-out its useless to use more.

My Specs: P4 Northwood 2.66 (no HT) FSB 533, ATI 9800, 512 MB DDR . I tried Eu and US Versions of RE2.

Any Ideas why PJ 1.4 crashes to desktop with Glide WP? I tried normal 1.4 and Audio Fixed 1.4 and tried all popular Sound and Input Plugins but it wont work.

EDIT: BTW i have tried disableing TV-out with no positive effect.

I had that same problem too. what i had to do to fix it is go into my C:\WINDOWS folder and look for glide2x.dll and glide3x.dll in that folder and in the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM folder. I would delete them then reinstall zeckensacks glide wrapper then it would work fine.

PS: I have a Geforce 6800 with all 16 pipelines open.

Can someone help me? How do you install Glide64... there's a few folders with different stuff in them (e.g. Hacktaru's glide3x wrapper) and I don't know what folders the contents go into. One of them talks about a 1964 folder???? The Glide readme is'nt very helpful either.

    Thanks

when glide64 is packaged it has 4 folders. all you need is what is in the plugin folder. extract and put it in ur pj64 folder. Then if you need a glide wrapper (this means if you don't have a voodoo glide based video card) then i recommend getting zeckensacks glide wrapper. Google it its simple to find.
