LOL!
First off, to configure the controller, it's really easy. But it depends on what input plugin u use. The most popular is NRage's. So I'll post how to do it in there since I, too, use it.
Select the configure input (it's on a menu; it's not so hard to find! Try to find it yourself!). Then go to the devices tab under controller 1. Select your gamepad in the list there. Go back to the configure-tab. Press a button where you want to configure a key. Press the key on your gamepad, and it's set! It's that easy!
And about the games...
First off, remember that you can't ask for games here! Second, what games are good? You will just have to find which games you like. Then you can obtain them. I won't tell you where, though.
And a faq? Read the readme-file and check out these forums so you know what's happening!

Need to download GoodN64 or instructions to use it? Need to check if it's a good or bad rom?

If you have an MS Sidewinder the trick is to turn on the motion sensor (green light on joystick not red) when defining the keys. If you are still having problems then please let me know and I can send you some predefined config files.
As for the FAQ's read the sticky's at the top of the forum's, Smiff's site is a good place for the various emulator versions and tools that are useful (www.smiff.clara.net) oh and the best place in the whole world to see which game to run in which emulator is my site!

Seriosuly we are a pretty helpful bunch, just don't ask where to download games or when a new version of an emulator is due out. Also for help on a particluar game use the search feature in this forum so that you don't ask a question that has been answered 10 times before

No problem.THANKS i set up my gamepad and its working well!!!!! THANKS!!
That's good. Good, good.I wasnt asking for games and i never will.......
but am i too assume that all games work great?
Most games does.
i have one and it doesnt seem to function properly it works but its not 100% that i can tell....is this normal??
It's simple. If you have pj 1.4, there's a gui. If the gui, there are details about the game. It can say, like if it's compitable or not. And whether there's some errors in the game. So you can check there.
If it says that there are some issues, then it's normal.
it seems slow what the best way to speed things up????
I assume that this is because you don't have a computer that is fast enough. 800 MHz Pentium III should be efficient to play all games at a decent speed. Except some few, like Perfect Dark.

hey thanks for the info!!!!!!! i just need a little clarification:
"It's simple. If you have pj 1.4, there's a gui. If the gui, there are details about the game. It can say, like if it's compitable or not. And whether there's some errors in the game. So you can check there. If it says that there are some issues, then it's normal."
whats pj 1.4 and whats gui???
"most games do work"
so when i try to play something and i get garbled distortion or i cant see all the graphics on some of the characters in the game is that errors on the game or is that my system??? most games work perfectly?????
whats the best emulator are they similar or should i just stiuck with 1964 only??

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OK...
First off, Pj stands for "Project64", the emulator which this forum is dedicated to. GUI means "Graphical user interface" and is what you see when you run a program. In Pj, there is a list with some headers like compitable, comments, etc -- that's the GUI.whats pj 1.4 and whats gui
First of all, you must know if the game is compitable with the emulator. It's said in the GUI. In pj, it's said "compitable" if it is, or "not compitable" if it can't be played on the emulator.so when i try to play something and i get garbled distortion or i cant see all the graphics on some of the characters in the game is that errors on the game or is that my system??? most games work perfectly?????
In 1964, this is also shown in a list. But rather, it says "Playable" if it can be played, or "Not playable" if it can't.
And as I said, most games work. But some don't.
Well, for your system, 1964 might be the best, since Pj won't run full speed. I suggest you use 1964, or pj if you like, but note that you probably won't get full speed in games.whats the best emulator are they similar or should i just stiuck with 1964 only??
Okay, you have a Pentium III 500 MHz, that's not just quite enough for pj. Go for 1964.
here are my specs:
p3
500
768 mb rams
ati aiw 32mb agp
768 mb ram? That's a little much, but it doesn't matter.
ATI-cards are not good. Especially with Pj, since they will cause many graphic-problems with games. I dunno about 1964, though, but I guess it's the same. If you want yourself a good card to a good price, then go for GeForce 2.

Hmm firstly Doom this is the 1964 forum not PJ64! (Unless it's been moved of course!) 768 Ram! If you have that much then I suggest you get sell some of it to get a Geforce 2 video card. The ATI card will give you all kinds of problems! But really your whole machine is hovering on the minimum spec. borderline to play most emus. If you wanna try just a few games try using Corn it's one of the fastest.
I am back!
Oh I forgot which forum it was I posted in!![]()
Um, yes, Corn is probably the fastest one. Though, 1964 is probably the fastest one with much compability. I think it's even more than Pj.

thanks for all the useful info!!! bottomline its time to take the plunge and get a new system!!!!!!!
one last question (for now anyway, and thanks again for the help so far)
i found trwin and for some reason it works great for me WHY??? it runs some games at full speed great sound etc.......... is this one still being worked on? also if i were to get an awesome to spec system what would be the best emu to use
THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
