Super Smash Brothers Melee Action Replay cheat problems

Okay, I have Super Smash Bros. Melee US v1.0 and wanted to enter some character modification cheats. I ran into a problem after tyring them out; for example "play as Giga Bowser in Adventure Mode" is screwed up. Why do I say this? Oh it's simple, I can enter the menus just fine, but what happens pisses me off. I get into said mode, select my character and the game comes to a complete halt. The only thing that still continues is the music. If there going to make character modifying cheats, they should at least test them for crap's sake. The funny thing is that it came from gscentral.com, a site that I thought I could trust for AR cheats. Phh. Apparently not. Unless someone can find me some legit AR cheats for SSBM 1.0, I won't stop my abhorrance against such devious memory hackers.

If they don't work, check your version. Hint: Look on the shiny side of your SSBM disc. Put it in the light and it should say something like this:
