Newbie here--cant get past no controller screen

I'm a newbie at this. I set the input device, downloaded different plugins, and set the controllers different ways. How do I get past the no controller screen?

Sorry if I'm insulting your intelligence, but did you check "Controller is plugged in" box in the input plugin settings? I assume you are using n-rage...

Go to the top of the 1964 screen
Click Plug-ins
Click Change Plug-ins
Select an imput plugin of your choice
Go back to whear you were in the begining
Click Plugins at the top
Click imput settings
Make shure "contoller is pluged in" is checked
Set your controlls
Hit apply or ok
than launch game useing the controlls you selected
