Using keyboard & mouse at the same time?

I want to be able to use the mouse along with the keyboard in games whenever I want, but some games will only respond to the mouse and not the keyboard. I set the analog buttons to use the mouse and dpad to use the directional buttons. I've tried Darkman's DInput 4.0 plugin and N-Rage's Direct-Input8, both with the same problem.



I don't play FPS games. Racing games seem to respond to the mouse and the keyboard with the settings I mentioned above, but games like Super Mario 64 and Conker's Bad Fur Day won't respond to the keyboard at all (unless I set the analog buttons to use the keyboard, but I want to use the mouse, too).
