I"d DEFINITELY wait till october. I"m not buying a damn thing till then.
Reason:
An ID game (first new one in years) is coming out in less than a week. The world will upgrade, and prices will drop massively by october.
Seriously, just buy any old thing for now (the loaner for $30?) and wait till october.
I'm not upgrading this fx5200 till AFTER I beat doom 3 on crap detail. Because I know by then vid cards will be SOO much cheaper, as tons of people will have upgraded by then.
My next purchase is surround sound speakers anyway, as I hear the new 3d engine for doom3 is very intense in the audio dept.
My fiddy cent.
/edit: I predict the vanilla 6800 will be close to $150 by october. You can all hold me to it.
(and that's when I'll buy it.)
