I had this problem when I had my Xterminator way back when. I can't remember all that well, but I do remember a software package on Gravis' site.

Anyway, I remember fooling around with some of the settings for the analog stick. I think there's a way to change how sensitive it is. After doing that I managed to get it to work well with pj64.
Fool around with it a bit. Hopefully you'll have some luck.
