Ocarina of Time Problem

I played OoT on both 1.3 and 1.4 with no problem. For some reason, now, it crashes in one particular place under 1.5 every time:

After playing the Song of Storms as a child in the windmill, the shot moves outside and starts rotating around the well. Just before it completely empties out, the screen freezes with this image and the bubbling noises occur indefinitely.

Anybody know why?

Try playing the song during the day.... I think this might be one of those weird problems which only happens at a certain time....

Try jabo's 1.4 graphics and/or sound plugin(s)... if that doesn't work, try using PJ64 1.4 (Put it in a different directory)

Rgann,

When playing The Legend of Zelda:Ocarina of Time, did you get any Windows XP crashes?

Your problem may be the infinite loop crashes and /or
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL crashes.

infinite loop crash symptoms:
1. video freezes

2. after approximately 30 seconds, the PC reboots*

3 After rebooting Windows XP, the message,
"The system has recovered from a serious error"
stating that Windows has detected a unexpected shutdown
and blaming NV_DISP.DLL or NV4.SYS of the problem

4. In the event log, you see
"Device\Video0 got stuck in a infinite loop"

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL crash symptoms:

The PC crashes, often with the gfx frozen and audio repeating one place over, and over and over,

PC reboots*

*Unless you uncheck automatically restart option in the startup and recovery options.

does using Protect Memory, Check Memory & Cache or Change Memory help? What about with Register Caching disabled?
