majora's mask controller not connected

Hey, has anyone had a prolem with Zelda: Majora's Mask thinking that there isn't a controllre connected? Whenever I run the rom in 1964 it tells me there's no controller connected, and to connect one then restart my n64... PJ64 doesn't give me this problem tho, using the same rom.

Edit: problem doesn't arise in 1964 when using the noote input plugin, but does using nrage's input plugin. the nrage plugin works in pj64 tho..
